R E C T O R
OF THE MARIA CURIE-SKŁODOWSKA UNIVERSITY IN  LUBLIN (UMCS)
announces a competition for the position of assistant lecturer (asystent) in the group of research and teaching  staff at the Department of Theory and Philosophy of Law in the Institute of Legal Sciences at the Faculty of Law and Administration of UMCS

The competition is open to those who meet the requirements specified in the act Law on Higher Education
and Science of 20 July 2018 (consolidated  text: (Journal of Laws of 2024 item 1571 as amended) and in the Charter of UMCS of 29 May 2019 , as amended.

 

I. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS UNDER THE COMPETITION:

-      holder of the Master's degree in law (magister prawa);

-      skills needed for research and teaching work, attested with an opinion given by a senior academic staff member;

-      teaching experience in running classes on legal-theoretical subjects;

-      active participation (paper delivered) at a nationwide scientific conference;

-      active participation (paper delivered) at an international scientific conference;

-      publication (or acceptance for publication) of a chapter in a scientific monograph, or a paper in Polish language;

-      publication (or acceptance for publication) of a chapter in a scientific monograph, or a paper in  English language;

-      filing an application for a research grant with a third-party institution (e.g. NCN, NAWA);

-      advanced stage of work on the doctoral dissertation confirmed by the scientific supervisor;

-      very good command of spoken and written Polish.

 

II. THE APPLICATION FOR THE COMPETITION SHOULD CONTAIN:

-      application form addressed to the Rector of UMCS;

-      authentic copy of the Master's degree diploma;

-      personal questionnaire and resume or CV;

-      list of scholarly publications;

-      list of scientific, teaching and organisational achievements;

-      declaration of compliance with the requirements, in accordance with Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018  Law on Higher Education and Science  (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2024 item 1571, as amended);

-      the candidate's statement that UMCS will be his/her primary   place of employment;

-      the candidate's statement that he/she consents to the processing of personal data, pursuant to Article 6 (1) (a) of the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation);

-       reference letters; opinion  on the candidate's skills and abilities to perform the research and teaching work.  

III. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

-      employment under a contract of employment for the definite period  from  1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026 , full-time employment, at the primary place of employment.

The deadline for submitting the documents is 4 July 2025.

The competition will be concluded on or before 9 July 2025.

Before entering into the employment relationship, the candidate selected in the course of the competition is required to deliver originals or authentic copies or certified true copies of the documents referred to in paragraph II of this announcement to the address specified in paragraph IV.


The University does not provide housing.

The very fact of concluding the competition does not result in entering into an employment relationship.

The final decision about employment is the responsibility of the Rector of the University.
The University reserves the right to close the competition procedure without taking any conclusive decision.

The Controller of personal data has appointed a person to supervise the correctness of the processing of personal data, who can be contacted at the e-mail address: [email protected].

The applicant is required to provide data as specified in Article 22 1  of the Polish Labour Code and specific employment regulations applicable for a given position. Providing data in a wider scope than required by the regulations is voluntary. For data that goes beyond the regulatory area, the data processing shall be based on the provisions of law and consent.

Pursuant to Article 7 (3) of the General Data Protection Regulation, for data which goes beyond the scope set out in applicable law, the data subject shall have the right to withdraw his or her consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

 According to Articles 15 to 21 and Article 77 of the General Data Protection Regulation, the data subject has the right of access to data, rectification, deletion or limitation of processing and the right to object to the processing, and to lodge a complaint to the supervisory authority, as well as the right to transfer the data. The personal data collected will not be sold or made available to third parties, except for those authorised by law, and will not be transferred to third countries or international organizations, in a manner that would be contrary to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation.

The data will be processed by UMCS during the recruitment period, and for data processed on the basis of a consent, it will be processed until any objection or withdrawal of consent is filed, and after that for archival purposes, in accordance with UMCS' procedures, and for the purposes, for the period and in the scope required by law to secure any possible claims.

The recipients of personal data may be entities authorized under law and entities that process personal data on behalf of the Controller under a concluded agreement for entrusting the processing of personal data.

You are also entitled to file a complaint with the supervisory authority - the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw, Poland).

The data you provide will not be processed for the purpose of automated decision-making, including profiling.
